<h2 id="early-and-personal-life">Early and personal life</h2> <p>Bajpayee was born in a <a href="/facts/Hindu/D7TFhcg1">Hindu</a> Brahmin family<a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:2" href="#fn:2"><sup>2</sup></a> on 23 April 1969 in a small village called Belwa near the city <a href="/facts/Bettiah/NhGdnYKL">Bettiah</a> in <a href="/facts/West_Champaran/1zzWIV0H">West Champaran</a>, <a href="/facts/Bihar/T5Ga9JF8">Bihar</a>.<a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:3" href="#fn:3"><sup>3</sup></a> He is the second child among his five other siblings, and was named after actor <a href="/facts/Manoj_Kumar/I2dKhWk3">Manoj Kumar</a>.<a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:4" href="#fn:4"><sup>4</sup></a><a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:5" href="#fn:5"><sup>5</sup></a> One of his younger sisters Poonam Dubey, is a fashion designer in the film industry.<a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:6" href="#fn:6"><sup>6</sup></a> His father was a farmer and his mother was a housewife. As a son of a farmer, Bajpayee would do farming during their vacation.<a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:7" href="#fn:7"><sup>7</sup></a> Since childhood, he wanted to become an actor.<a class="footnote-ref" id="fnref:8" href="#fn:8"><sup>8</sup></a> </p><p>His father struggled to gather funds for their education.
