The SASTIND was established in March 2008, superseding the Commission for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (COSTIND).1
In July 2018, the State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence signed an agreement with the Government of Kuwait to increase cooperation in the defense industry.2
