<p>Adolph Dubs (August 4, 1920 – February 14, 1979), also known as Spike Dubs, was an American diplomat who served as the <a href="/facts/United_States_Ambassador_to_Afghanistan/eH0kpePS">United States Ambassador to Afghanistan</a> from May 13, 1978, until his death in 1979. He was killed during a rescue attempt after his kidnapping. </p>
