<p>A hash array mapped trie (HAMT, /ˈhæmt/) is an implementation of an <a href="/facts/Associative_array/IFGd2xcP">associative array</a> that combines the characteristics of a <a href="/facts/Hash_table/Ht4ptDPF">hash table</a> and an <a href="/facts/Array_mapped_trie/CtrRSdLK">array mapped trie</a>. It is a refined version of the more general notion of a <a href="/facts/Hash_tree_(persistent_data_structure)/YqxhuTTM">hash tree</a>. </p>
