Gomphotherium

<p><i>Gomphotherium</i> is an extinct genus of <a href="/facts/Gomphothere/kqjTTu6m">gomphothere</a> <a href="/facts/Proboscidea/Dzk4qsH0">proboscidean</a> from the <a href="/facts/Neogene/zUJxvjuH">Neogene</a> of Eurasia, Africa and North America. It is the most diverse genus of gompothere, with over a dozen valid species. The genus is probably <a href="/facts/Paraphyletic/tmTWjACz">paraphyletic</a>. </p>
