<p>Clare Stephen Jacobs (February 18, 1886 – February 21, 1971) was an accomplished businessman, yacht racer, and American track athlete who competed mainly in the <a href="/facts/Pole_vault/V7GGzBpq">pole vault</a> and won an Olympic Bronze medal in the sport in 1908. He was born in <a href="/facts/Madison,_South_Dakota/DMS4Q8IE">Madison</a>, <a href="/facts/Dakota_Territory/N1DfdGB5">Dakota Territory</a>. </p>
