It forms the core of the Stevens Point <a href="/facts/Micropolitan_statistical_area/tIyMFAIc">micropolitan statistical area</a>, which had a population of 70,377 in 2020. </p><p>Stevens Point was incorporated in 1858. The city is home to the <a href="/facts/University_of_Wisconsin%E2%80%93Stevens_Point/ovjcjItV">University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point</a> and a campus of <a href="/facts/Mid-State_Technical_College/fqFuQW35">Mid-State Technical College</a>. </p>
