<p>In <a href="/facts/Mathematics/pxTouaz4">mathematics</a>, primitive recursive set functions or primitive recursive ordinal functions are analogs of <a href="/facts/Primitive_recursive_function/4z97gRnl">primitive recursive functions</a>, defined for <a href="/facts/Set_(mathematics)/BfucfHMq">sets</a> or <a href="/facts/Ordinal_number/GelFLjJt">ordinals</a> rather than <a href="/facts/Natural_number/u65og8JE">natural numbers</a>. They were introduced by Jensen & Karp (1971). </p>
