<p>Robert Wichard Pohl (10 August 1884 – 5 June 1976) was a German physicist at the <a href="/facts/University_of_G%25C3%25B6ttingen/UTUodvX1">University of Göttingen</a>. <a href="/facts/Nevill_Francis_Mott/r1xrUSDh">Nevill Francis Mott</a> described him as the "father of <a href="/facts/Solid_state_physics/Cmc6hvyR">solid state physics</a>". </p>
