Being bright red, it is a relatively rare example of a highly colored <a href="/facts/Methane/kBHneYnh">methane</a> <a href="/facts/Derivative_(chemistry)/JYcbLkbm">derivative</a>. It is only 2.3% by weight carbon, although other methane derivatives are known with still less carbon. </p>
