It was implemented on the <a href="/facts/.NET_Framework_version_history/9LBLRl6q">.NET Framework 1.0</a>. The main new feature was <a href="/facts/Managed_code/3jJfe94N">managed code</a>. Programmers familiar only with Visual Basic would probably have encountered difficulties working with the new version or adapting existing programs for it. </p>
