<p>Dokan is a <a href="/facts/Software_interface/zdfp8unT">software interface</a> for <a href="/facts/Microsoft_Windows/bwhAhuSL">Microsoft Windows</a> that lets programmers create <a href="/facts/Virtual_file_system/lRI31T4T">virtual file systems</a> without writing a kernel-level driver. This is achieved by running file system code in <a href="/facts/User_space/0yIzMY8t">user space</a> while the Dokan kernel driver translates the request for <a href="/facts/Architecture_of_Windows_NT/s0mJp1uG">Windows Kernel</a>.
