<p><i>Thuis</i> (English: At Home) is a <a href="/facts/Belgium/YKuMXP5j">Belgian</a> television <a href="/facts/Soap_opera/oddx9g1n">soap opera</a>, which airs on <a href="/facts/VRT_1/hhuoWRjA">VRT 1</a>, which is in the hands of <a href="/facts/Vlaamse_Radio-_en_Televisieomroep/vzMw4YVb">VRT</a>, the national broadcasting channel of the <a href="/facts/Dutch_language/yIB5lbsx">Dutch</a>-speaking region of Belgium, <a href="/facts/Flanders/JDsTRuR4">Flanders</a>. Until 2023 VRT produced the series but due to general cost savings it was decided in 2022 <a href="/facts/Warner_Bros._International_Television_Production_Netherlands/6jLmCDGp">Eyeworks</a> will take over the series. </p><p><i>Thuis</i> first aired on 23 December 1995, featuring <a href="/facts/Pol_Goossen/ugKBlo3u">Pol Goossen</a>, Janine Bischops [nl], Merel De Vilder Robier [nl], Sally-Jane Van Horebeeck [nl], Annick Segal [nl], Monika Van Lierde [nl], Rik Andries and the late Donald Madder [nl]. </p><p><i>Thuis</i> grew to become <a href="/facts/Flanders/JDsTRuR4">Flanders</a>' number one soap, gaining 900,000 viewers[<i>when?</i>] (compared to the highest rated TV show, receives 1.5 million viewers), and therefore beating competing for channel <a href="/facts/VTM_(TV_channel)/gRtQD61G">vtm</a>'s soap operas <i><a href="/facts/Familie/kPrJPLz0">Familie</a></i> (English: Family) and former series <i>Wittekerke</i> (English: White Church, a fictional town).[<i>not verified in body</i>] <i>Thuis</i> is currently in its 30th season, and has aired 5,894 episodes as of 27 June 2025. </p>
