These bacteria are <a href="/facts/Facultative_anaerobes/YS9tdh8N">facultative anaerobes</a>, and made up of non-motile and non-sporing <a href="/facts/Coccus/51QVlEDC">cocci</a> (round cells) that are <a href="/facts/Catalase/CcJ9r5KG">catalase negative</a>. It is a <a href="/facts/Commensalism/KnJkboX0">commensal</a> and commonly inhabits the human mouth, throat, and upper respiratory tract, as part of the <a href="/facts/Oral_microbiota/oL3z9UGo">oral microbiota</a>.
