Founded in 2006, it was notable for being a self-provisioning CDN technology used by the <a href="/facts/Telecommunication/vxoj1cxR">telecommunication</a> and <a href="/facts/Internet_hosting_service/kGcQcePr">hosting</a> industries. </p><p>On June 16, 2022, Edgecast was acquired by <a href="/facts/Limelight_Networks/w9j6sWjm">Limelight Networks</a> and was rebranded as <a href="/facts/Edgio/w9j6sWjm">Edgio</a>. </p>
