<p>International Distribution Services plc (IDS, formerly Royal Mail Limited, Royal Mail plc and International Distributions Services plc) is a British company providing postal and courier services. It was created in 2013 by the <a href="/facts/Government_of_the_United_Kingdom/3zLlUWbx">UK government</a> as a new holding company of <a href="/facts/Royal_Mail/URvAGkDT">Royal Mail</a>, and a majority of its shares were then sold on the <a href="/facts/London_Stock_Exchange/V2AbyhM5">London Stock Exchange</a>. The government initially retained a 30% stake in the company, but sold its remaining shareholding in 2015. It is a constituent of the <a href="/facts/FTSE_250_Index/ynGRn0oj">FTSE 250 Index</a>. </p>
