<p>Postumius Rufius Festus Avienius (or Avienus) was a <a href="/facts/Latin_literature/qX5zBEDL">Latin writer</a> of the 4th century AD. He was a native of <a href="/facts/Volsinii/8rtR2mcE">Volsinii</a> in <a href="/facts/Etruria/eX6593Hm">Etruria</a>, from the distinguished family of the Rufii Festi. </p><p>Avienius is not identical with the historian <a href="/facts/Festus_(historian)/6f6PHSU8">Festus</a>. </p>
