<p>A Discourse-Completion Task (DCT) is a tool used in <a href="/facts/Linguistics/oQuamvf2">linguistics</a> and <a href="/facts/Pragmatics/KkK08yyI">pragmatics</a> to elicit particular <a href="/facts/Speech_acts/l11PGwQu">speech acts</a>. A DCT consists of a one-sided role play containing a situational prompt which a participant will read to elicit the responses of another participant. </p>
