<p><i>Notiocampus ruber</i>, known commonly as the red pipefish, is a <a href="/facts/Species/oDg6b96r">species</a> of <a href="/facts/Pipefish/t5NrgFcI">pipefish</a> <a href="/facts/Endemism/xt4IpIsl">endemic</a> to the <a href="/facts/Indian_Ocean/Kv0crwKG">Indian Ocean</a> waters along the southern coast of <a href="/facts/Australia/qLHpbppq">Australia</a> and <a href="/facts/Tasmania/q3dubPTt">Tasmania</a>. It occurs at depths from 5 to 20 m (16 to 66 ft) over the <a href="/facts/Continental_shelf/dpgHAR4U">continental shelf</a>. This species grows to a length of 16.4 cm (6.5 in). This species is the only known member of its <a href="/facts/Genus/m8EFjSms">genus</a>. </p>
