<p>Nathaniel Manley Hayward (January 19, 1808 – July 18, 1865) was an American businessman and inventor best known for selling a patent to <a href="/facts/Charles_Goodyear/RLSBBLAW">Charles Goodyear</a> that Goodyear later used to develop the process of <a href="/facts/Vulcanization/jmBUqGaz">vulcanization</a>. </p>
