<p>The register of data controllers was a <a href="/facts/United_Kingdom/kuPAILt2">United Kingdom</a> <a href="/facts/Database/VYcpkevb">database</a> under the control of the UK <a href="/facts/Information_Commissioner%2527s_Office/NPBgoq90">Information Commissioner's Office</a> (ICO) mandated by section 19 of the <a href="/facts/Data_Protection_Act_1998/wKpAe8EH">Data Protection Act 1998</a>.: Section 19 </p><p>The register of fee payers is the name of an equivalent register established under the <a href="/facts/Data_Protection_Act_2018/PjWKsF2e">Data Protection Act 2018</a>, which implements the European Union's <a href="/facts/General_Data_Protection_Regulation/RMLY6ohr">General Data Protection Regulation</a> (GDPR). </p><p>Registration under either Act carries a fee, the proceeds of which fund the costs of the ICO. Any entry may be inspected by the public at any time at no cost to the enquirer. </p>
