Like big-O notation, it is usually used to roughly convey the rate of growth of a <a href="/facts/Function_(mathematics)/CdReEKCh">function</a>, such as the <a href="/facts/Computational_complexity_theory/etHuVF3U">computational complexity</a> of a particular <a href="/facts/Algorithm/fnl5NmRt">algorithm</a>. </p>
