<p>Valentin Ignatyevich Filatyev was a Soviet <a href="/facts/Cosmonaut/HB1bd6Lz">cosmonaut</a> who was dismissed from the <a href="/facts/Soviet_space_program/Nz5vfPGg">Soviet space program</a> for disciplinary reasons. He attended the Stalingrad HAF pilots School, graduating in 1955, and served as a fighter pilot in the Air Defense Force. </p>
