<p><i>Microcotyle oceanica</i> is a <a href="/facts/Species/oDg6b96r">species</a> of <a href="/facts/Monogenean/NtF6bKsp">monogenean</a>, <a href="/facts/Fish_parasites/GsldNekF">parasitic</a> on the <a href="/facts/Gills/FWgM3Jp8">gills</a> of a marine <a href="/facts/Fish/fln4gH9V">fish</a>. It belongs to the family <a href="/facts/Microcotylidae/zQQgkoLn">Microcotylidae</a>. It was first described and illustrated based on two specimens from the gills of the Mexican needlefish <i>Tylosurus fodiator</i> (<a href="/facts/Belonidae/NpH9MeVJ">Belonidae</a>), off <a href="/facts/Panama/GckVVhnp">Panama</a>. </p>
