<p>In mathematics, a polymatroid is a <a href="/facts/Polytope/a76nXrL0">polytope</a> associated with a <a href="/facts/Submodular_function/YNnlKb4U">submodular function</a>. The notion was introduced by <a href="/facts/Jack_Edmonds/4bLnep3e">Jack Edmonds</a> in 1970. It is also a generalization of the notion of a <a href="/facts/Matroid/5bLcGlRF">matroid</a>. </p>
