The salt itself is often not isolated, but solutions of the dicyanoaurate <a href="/facts/Ion/3bePpDna">ion</a> ([Au(CN)2]−) are generated on a large scale in the <a href="/facts/Gold_extraction/v4m10wuc">extraction of gold</a> from its ores. </p>
