It is now entirely part of <a href="/facts/Wrexham_County_Borough/dg9w8hsN">Wrexham County Borough</a>. The name <i>Maelor</i> is an old Welsh word: it can be translated as "land of the prince", from <i>mael</i> ("prince") and <i>llawr</i> ("low ground", "region"). </p>
