Terry William Rozier III , nicknamed "Scary Terry", is an American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals before being selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. Rozier spent his first four seasons as a reserve with the Celtics until being traded to the Charlotte Hornets in a sign-and-trade deal. Rozier was a starter for the Hornets for four-and-a-half seasons before being traded to the Heat.
On January 30, 2025, the NBA announced that Rozier was under investigation by federal authorities in connection with a sports betting scandal. "We are now aware of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York related to this matter and have been cooperating with that investigation," an NBA spokesman said. Allegations surround a 2023 game when Rozier's Hornets faced the New Orleans Pelicans and an unusual pattern of bets were placed on Rozier having a subpar game statistically. Rozier left that game with a foot injury after nine minutes.
