It is also called Monge parameterization or Monge form. </p><p>In physical theory of surface and interface <a href="/facts/Surface_roughness/o35uJjc4">roughness</a>, and especially in the study of shape conformations of <a href="/facts/Membrane/FDlaJe23">membranes</a>, it is usually called the Monge gauge, or less frequently the Monge representation. </p>
