The 2019 Major League Baseball draft took place from June 3 to 5, assigning amateur players to MLB teams based on the reverse order of the 2018 MLB season standings. Compensation picks were awarded for unsigned players from the 2018 MLB Draft and lost qualifying free agents. The Baltimore Orioles selected Adley Rutschman as the first overall pick. Notably, the Atlanta Braves, Diamondbacks, and Dodgers received compensation picks for failing to sign key prospects. Due to exceeding the luxury tax limit, the Red Sox had their top pick moved down ten places. Andrew Vaughn of the White Sox was the first 2019 draftee to debut in MLB, doing so in April 2021.
