It is synthesized at 0 °C by hydrolysis of <a href="/facts/Xenon_tetrafluoride/blYIn0x7">xenon tetrafluoride</a> in aqueous <a href="/facts/Sulfuric_acid/Wom6fymJ">sulfuric acid</a>: </p> XeF4 + 2H2O → XeO2 + 4HF
