Despite the name, the phenomenon is actually a sulfuric fire that resembles the appearance of <a href="/facts/Lava/q2an5SVN">lava</a>, rather than actual lava from a <a href="/facts/Volcanic_eruption/AwqpzdaG">volcanic eruption</a>. The most well-documented of these fires occur on <a href="/facts/Indonesia/vQnWU3IW">Indonesia</a>'s <a href="/facts/Ijen/WsnrBb5K">Kawah Ijen</a> volcano, where they regularly burn. </p>
