They are often studied to gain knowledge on the <a href="/facts/Weak_interaction/f6upmKMs">weak interaction</a>. The <a href="/facts/Strangeness/T1kLPfQU">strange</a> D <a href="/facts/Mesons/9R0kIc1q">mesons</a> (Ds) were called "F mesons" prior to 1986. </p>
