Surab is the district headquarters of Surab District, which was founded on 1 August 2017, when it was carved out of Kalat District, in Pakistan's Balochistan province.
Surab District is famous for its apple and grape orchards.
It is located almost 212 Km from the Balochistan Capital and is somewhat closer to Afghanistan Border. The largest tribes in Surab District are Reki, Mirwanis, Rodenis, Muhammad Hassni, Harooni, Mullazai, Mardanshahi, Zehris, minor nichari and Mengal. Brahvi is the native language of the locals.
