The Honda B-series engines, introduced in 1988, are a family of inline four-cylinder DOHC performance engines featuring Honda's pioneering VTEC system in some models. Produced alongside the more economical D-series, B-series engines range from 1.6L to 2.0L and produce between 126 hp and 190 hp, with some capable of a redline over 8500 RPM. Notable for high-pressure die cast aluminum blocks and cast-in iron liners, the series includes variants distinguished mainly by cylinder block deck height. The B20B should not be confused with the earlier B20A engine. Over time, the B-series was succeeded by the K-series in several Honda models like the Civic and Integra.

They also had a thinner head gasket which yielded a higher compression ratio vs the normal B20B of 9.2:1.

B20A/B20B
